It really makes you think.

I had to read a book for a book group, and came upon this on the list of suggested titles.  The title immediately grabbed my attention because I love cats Living with 4 adorable Maine coons, I would agree with the author that “Cats and humans have been partners for over ten thousand years. And what you realize when you’ve lived with a cat for a long time is that we may think we own them, but that’s not the way it is. They simply allow us the pleasure of their company.” The basic plot is that a young man discovers he has only a limited time left to live.  Of course he doesn’t want to die, so decides to make a deal to live longer.  He starts making choices based on this deal that lead him to discover things about himself and the life he’s led.  This book is about appreciating your life.  It’s about the choices you make and how they not only affect you but others in the world.  It really makes you think about the importance of your life and what choices you might make if you were in this situation.  Of course his cat also makes appearances throughout the story.  I laughed and I cried while reading it.  I really enjoyed reading this book and the message it left me with.  It’s been described as a “beautiful, comforting story, despite the grisly premise” and I don’t often say this about the things I read, but it is one of the best books I have ever read and I highly recommend it to you all.
